After you download the mod, check to see if it is a zipped file.

FYI: Most of our mods are packaged in a .rar or .zip file because many of the trucks have template files that come with them.

Do not download your mod straight into your mod folder, but place it elsewhere on your drive, extract it and then move your .scs file to your mod folder.

Once you have moved the .scs file to your mod folder (commonly: "Documents > American Truck Simulator > mod") then simply open your game, go to your Mod Manager;

You should see your new mod in the upper left portion of your Mod Manager. Highlight the mod and then click the Right Arrow > to place it in Active Mods.

 Depending on the mod you installed, you may wish to move it down in the Loading Order.

 Be sure to Click Save and then load into your game. Depending on the type of Mod will determine where you find it.

Trucks - Find at their respective dealer.

 Trailers - Go to Trailer Purchase.

 AI Traffic and Load mods do not have any custom settings, so those will already be in-game.
